A year has gone by...Me, caught up...with life, with living...didn't forget the blog, didn't remember it well, either...
'Anew' is the right choice of a title now, isn't it? Or shud it be 'beginning anew' ? I will keep it for now...
I don't know how to go on...what to start writing about from my restless soul...there is a flood or correctly a 'natural calamity' being declared in Bihar where the Kosi is overflowing and changing directions...I wish I could go...but on one hand i'm not too sure if adding 1 confused person to the many stranded there is a good idea, and secondly, i have too many mundane things to worry about..my research proposal-cum-assignment, my already booked trip to pune, leave from the university...it's just as well, that i give some things i can to the JNUSU group.
About writing about education or early education(pre-school) ...I'll start in other posts...but only 2 small things in this beginning--
One is that I noticed the importance that pre-school education has...Of all 25 people in my class who are supposed to be preparing some proposal on education issues, there is not one which touches or recognizes preschool in education. Somehow, most areas (teachers, for example) are cross-linked to other areas (finance, elementary/secondary, curriculum etc) but preschool is related to ..health! well, just as well.As ramya had said, If you are sure that you are fighting for all the children who are under-6, then you will do better than the rest. Now that I know that noone is going to take my little under-6 children seriously, so I have do more ...
Another point is- a friend of mine, who's father to a 1 year old, told me yesterday that his wife has anemia..."you know how she is...busy with the child.. doesn't get to take care of herself because the kid is giving her trouble all the time.." I felt like giving him a piece of my mind...which I did in 1 line, telling him it is also his responsibility to take care of the child, as well as the mother..but it brought to my mind the distant seeming academic discourse of socially constructed roles...of mother's health and...well, let me not go on..
there is so much to be done....mainly in terms of awareness, where the 'rights' (rights as in human rights and 'right things' to do) for young children are concerned...
I wonder how many in the blog world (meaning those educated and priviledged enough to read/write blogs) are aware of these 'Rights'. Maybe 1 step at a time, one pebble in the lake....we can start.
